The Little Mercies are a folk trio of three singing and songwriting multi-instrumentalists. Bronwyn Chellete (Bass, Banjo), Rosalee Walsh (Fiddle, Banjo, Dance) and Shanice Richards (Fiddle, Guitar, Dance), found each other through the Tallahassee old time music and dance scene. Each of them stood out at the local jams for their respective instrumental skills, distinctive style, and voices that could cut through the onslaught of fiddle and banjos.

With a lifetime of singing and over a decade of experience playing, Bronwyn produces a sound that recalls the high, lonesome mountains of the Appalachians and the deep, still waters of the Florida swamps. Shanice’s experience in reggae, hip-hop, jazz and traditional gospel flavors her playing of old-time tunes with soulful vocaling and a unique, genre-jumping improvisatory sound. Rosalee’s roots as a fiddler and training as a classical chamber musician have led her to create intentional and conscious arrangements that blend genres.

All prominent local musicians, they performed with different bands, orchestras, quartets and as solo acts before it occurred to them that their combined sound could hold real potential. The three friends met in a park and did what they did best: sang and played tunes. Singing three-part harmonies and playing twin fiddle, their individual sounds instantly blended together making the Spanish moss and magnolia leaves dance in the spring humidity. And thus, with the blessing of a bobcat by a Florida pond, the Little Mercies was born. With original songs to make you feel all the feelings, reinterpreted traditional songs to reflect our times and fiddle tunes to give you happy feet, their love for music and their joy playing with each other will surely make you laugh, cry, smile and dance all through the night.
