There's a new jazz singing sensation in Tally town and her name is Sasha Tuck! Sasha recently relocated to Tallahassee from the Tampa/St. Pete area, where she was a leading figure on the city's thriving jazz scene and taught jazz singing in St. Petersburg College's Music Industry/Recording Arts program (MIRA) for ten years. Her brilliant vocal artistry has garnered critical acclaim and countless accolades, including from top-tier jazz musicians like Tampa drummer Dave Hamar. "Sasha exudes freedom and adventure when she performs," says Hamar. "She always brings fresh ideas for any musical situation." For her Wine House debut, Sasha has put together a backing band, the Jazz Valentines, that features three of the guiding lights of Tallahassee's burgeoning live music scene: FSU College of Music profs Panayotis "Paddy" League and Michael Bakan on guitar and drums/percussion, and FSU jazz studies bass ace and grad student Allen Cadet-Civil from Haiti. You can count on Sasha and the Valentines to bring the romance, the beauty, and the heat as they traverse a wide range of songs from jazz standards, to Brazilian sambas and bossas, to endearingly quirky twists on beloved pop tunes from across the decades. Don't miss this special Valentine's weekend treat, and be sure to get there early to get a good seat!
